Wastewater treatment plants to be upgraded
Taupo District Council will soon begin work on upgrading the wastewater treatment plants at Waitahanui and Kinloch.
The upgrade of the Kinloch Wastewater Treatment Plant will ensure it has the capacity to cope with the existing and short-term future needs of the community.
The Waitahanui upgrade will ensure the plant complies with new resource consent conditions for wastewater treatment by providing additional filtration and disinfection prior to discharge.
Council contractors will begin work on the upgrades in May and both projects are expected to be completed within four to six months.
The Mangakino Wastewater Treatment Plant underwent maintenance work in 2007 to meet higher environmental standards.
