Kiwis getting dating savvy

Rising petrol prices and a general increase in the cost of living is forcing kiwis to change their behaviours towards spending.
We are looking for new ways to cut back on spending without having to compromise our lifestyle. In particular our approach to socialising is changing. An example is the increase in use of dating services such as speed dating.
“$30 is a whole lot cheaper than buying 12 glasses of Lindauer,” says Cathy Allan, Co-Director of Numbers Speed Dating. “Speed dating is like a regular night out at a bar only with better odds of meeting a decent match.”
Speed dating gives you the opportunity to meet 12 guys or girls around your own age and spend 5 minutes chatting with each of them - enough time to figure out who you'd like to see again. The success rate according to Allan is high. “Guys in particular are surprised at how confident and attractive the girls are. Our referral rate reflects our success rate, which is great as we don’t do any paid advertising. The money we save on advertising we donate to charity.”
The next Numbers Speed Dating event will be held at The Southern Cross on Abel-Smith Street in Wellington, May 16. Information on Numbers Speed Dating is available at www.numbersdating.com .
