Positive feedback has been flooding in from those involved with the youth concert ‘Do it 2 it’ run by the Taupo Youth Council recently.

The Youth Council organised the free concert to celebrate and acknowledge local youth as part of nationwide Youth Week. Popular National band ‘Spacifix’ were the lead act on the night, supported by local band Mingoss and Taupo Nui-a-Tia and Tauhara bands Unconscious Thoughts, Midnight Sun, Siezefire, Rezolute, Grooved and Epic.

Community Projects Officer Jenny Steadman, who assisted the Youth Council with pulling together the event, said it was fantastic to see local young people so enthusiastic.

“The youth ran the event really well and it was great to see the youth bands so excited. We have had some fabulous feedback from kids and parents which has made all of the hard work, well worth it,” she said.

She also thanked the sponsors who made the event a reality including the Taupo District Council Community Support Team, Taupo Venues, Youthtown, MoreFM, AgentC with SPL Central, Café 4 Youth Health and Senjo who did a fabulous job with security.

Next on the agenda for the Youth Council is the Involve Relate Conference. Youthtown are kindly sponsoring four members of the Taupo Youth Council to head to Wellington for a national forum which brings youth and people who work with youth together to inspire, inform, encourage and challenge each other. This will provide Youth Council members the opportunity to interact with other youth organisations, share experiences and present new research and information.
