From Monday 16 June, West Harbour ferry users will enjoy six additional return sailings per day.

Auckland Regional Transport Authority General Manager, Customer Services, Mark Lambert says, “Due to customer demand, ARTA has increased the number of services on the popular West Harbour ferry service, which is a fast 35-minute* commute to and from Auckland’s CBD. From 16 June, an extra vessel will be added to the fleet by ferry operator Belaire Ferries Ltd to manage the additional sailings.

“Auckland’s beautiful harbour makes commuting by ferry a very popular transport choice, so we are pleased to be able to provide additional services. In the near future ARTA will be focusing on further increasing ferry services and upgrading facilities, as we are currently doing at the Downtown Ferry Terminal.”

Mr Lambert says, “Due to the cost of acquiring a larger vessel and the higher cost of providing this increased ferry service, there will be an increase in some fares. Fares on this service have not been increased since September 2005.”

The West Harbour ferry service is operated by Belaire Ferries Ltd and funded by the Auckland Regional Transport Authority.
