Colourful rally event a success in Rotorua

Around 1000 Targa Rally participants and supporters converged on the Novotel Rotorua Lakeside Hotel during Queen’s Birthday weekend (31st May/1 June) for their annual rally.

The 134 teams zoomed around rural roads in the region but the Rotorua Village Green, near to the Novotel Rotorua Lakeside Hotel, was their central point for the event and the hotel was the venue for festivities.

According to organiser Peter Martin, “The prize giving dinner at the hotel attracted almost 400 participants, up on previous years and by all accounts everyone had a great time!”. Peter attributes the increase due in part to the event being held on a long weekend.

“As an event it is certainly a colourful spectacle with the cars, participants and supporters all geared up for a fun weekend”, says Novotel Rotorua Lakeside Hotel’s Director of Sales and Marketing, Andrea Richards “This event has been held at the Hotel for the past three years and has been appreciated by all guests who stay over this weekend regardless of whether they are participants or not. We look forward to hosting them again next year.”

The event is scheduled for Rotorua on 6-7th June 2009. ENDS
