New Zealand Table Tennis players win tight game

A World Junior Circuit table tennis event is being held in Papeete, Tahiti from 1st July – 4th Juy, 2008. 

The New Zealand team won the Cadet Boys’ Team. In a closely fought deciding contest, New Zealand beat Australia 3 – 2 to clinch gold.

Kevin Wu was the backbone of the New Zealanders’ success beating both Vincent Tran and Kane Townsend. Lingnan Kong won the deciding singles in the crucial contest, with the match score level, defeating Vincent Tran in four games to secure victory.

The Australian wins came from Kane Townsend against Lingnan Kong, and in the doubles duel.
