A rose pruning demonstration will be held in the Queenstown Gardens this Saturday.

Queenstown Lakes District Council parks manager Gordon Bailey, a self professed gardening enthusiast, will hold the demonstration in the rose gardens.

“There are many theories out there when it comes to pruning roses, most of which show little or no knowledge of the New Zealand climate,” Mr Bailey said.

"Many people just take to the roses with the hedge clippers. I can show you some straight forward techniques which can be used to gain the best results," he said.

The half hour demonstration, which will include an opportunity for questions and answers, will be held on Saturday, July 12, from 11.00am at the Queenstown Gardens Rose garden.
