NZ cyber-gamers to do battle this weekend

Nearly 800 competitors are set to battle around the clock this weekend for a place on the New Zealand team for the World Cyber Games 2008.
Starting on Friday at the TelstraClear Pacific Events Centre, the New Zealand World Cyber Games Qualifiers gives Kiwi gamers the chance to represent New Zealand at the e-sports equivalent of the Olympic Games.
Date: Friday 11 July – Sunday 13 July 2008
Time: Media briefing 11.00am (Friday 11 July).
Gates open to competitors and the public 12.00pm
Venue: TelstraClear Pacific Events Centre, Manukau City
Highlights include the highly charged atmosphere of 800 of New Zealand’s best gamers competing around the clock, gaming demonstrations and trials and the legendary food eating competition. Around 10,000 spectators are expected at the event.
