A new free email newsletter that let’s subscribers know what’s new in their library is proving popular.

Since the newsletter, Next Reads, went live last month, several hundred Manukau book worms have signed-up to the on-line service provided by Manukau Libraries, much to the delight of library staff.

Manager of Service Development at Manukau Libraries Kirsty McMillan says, “The feedback from customers who have enrolled for the service has been amazing.

“Many of our readers are leading such busy lifestyles today that they are unable to make regular visits to the library. They are really enjoying having this service which brings the library to them at work, school and home or on the road 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.”

Next Reads allows readers to keep up-to-date with the latest titles, from thrillers to armchair travel, biographies to DIY, fitness to kids’ books. Customers can subscribe to a range of newsletters which provide great reading suggestions.

Subscribers can link directly to the library catalogue, browse for the newest titles and even reserve them, all in one go. Those without access to emails at home can view the newsletter online at their local library.

To celebrate the launch of Next Reads, libraries are running a competition. There is still time for one lucky customer who signs-up to the service before 1 August to win $200 worth of book vouchers. Visit www.manukau-libraries.govt.nz, click on Next Reads and subscribe.
