Minister welcomes Whanganui and Mid-Central DHB Alliance

Minister of Health David Cunliffe today welcomed an announcement from Whanganui and Mid-Central District Health Boards that they are moving to formalise their alliance.

“Regional shared planning and service arrangements are one of the best ways to strengthen services to smaller centres.”

Mr Cunliffe said the Otago and Southland model had proved successful and he expected MidCentral and Whanganui DHBs would also move from strength to strength under an alliance

“I look forward to seeing these DHBs develop new and innovative initiatives under the alliance.”
