Franklin District Council, together with the Pokeno Landowner Consortium (PLC) and the local community, has been looking at how the future development of Pokeno can best be guided. As part of the ongoing consultation and dialogue, we are inviting the whole community to come and see what the Pokeno Village could look like in twenty years.

Draft Pokeno Structure Plan: Information Day

“The Franklin District Growth Strategy identified Pokeno as a village that is going to grow. This information day is a special opportunity to see how we are planning for this growth, by way of a Structure Plan, over the next 20 years,” says Franklin District Council’s District Planning Manager, David Pentz.

A Structure Plan helps define how homes, businesses, open spaces and infrastructure can fit together in a planned way. It provides a vision for how Pokeno residents – now and in the future – can live, work and play in their village. It includes things like what infrastructure will be required, where parks, playgrounds and reserves might go, how people can move around and a range of living options for different lifestyles and stages of life.

“Pokeno isn’t going to change into an urban village overnight. We want to ensure that the growth is planned and structured, meeting the needs of both the current and future Pokeno community. That’s why we would strongly encourage you to come along to the information day and share your thoughts with us,” says David.
