Ready…set….recycle with Kaipara Refuse Limited’s official fortnightly blue bag kerbside recycling collection which starts on 8 September 2008.

The new service will collect the blue recycling bags from all streets in Dargaville and Mangawhai, and also along the route between the two towns (State Highways 12 and 1 plus Kaiwaka-Mangawhai Road).

Mangawhai and the route between it and Ruawai will be collected every second Monday starting on 8 September 2008 and Dargaville’s collection is every second Thursday from 11 September 2008. Bags should be ready for collection by 8am.

In Mangawhai and Dargaville townships bags can be left on the kerbside in the same manner as normal blue rubbish bags, but only on the fortnightly recycling days. In towns along the route - Ruawai, Paparoa, Maungaturoto and Kaiwaka – residents need to bring their bags to the highway or to Kaiwaka-Mangawhai Road.

Residents from outlying areas, like Baylys, can leave their blue recycling bags in any Dargaville street on collection day. They can also be left along the collection route between Dargaville and Mangawhai but Kaipara Refuse asks that where possible that this be in the nearest town.

For the future, Kaipara District Council and Kaipara Refuse are looking into providing designated collection points in towns along the route, and also at a convenient point in Dargaville to cater for recyclers from outside the urban area.

The official blue recycling bags are available where-ever blue rubbish bags are sold.

The recycling collection will take:
