Surf.co.nz, New Zealand’s longest serving surf website is pleased to announce the addition of a new member to its nzXsports team. Doug Young will join Surf.co.nz from this month taking up the role of the National Surf Reporter. Young has been involved with the surfing community for over two decades now and in that time has grown to become one the most respected Big Wave surfers in the world.


``We’re delighted to have Dougy onboard.’’ says Matt Stinson, General Manager of nzXsports.com. ``His range of knowledge crosses the entire surfing spectrum, his experience of owning a surf school as well as surfing monster waves has allowed him the opportunity to understand the needs of beginners and experts alike’’.


Young is also owner-operator of his own Surf school in New Brighton, Christchurch - Pacific Surfari and says that ``I’m amped to be involved with Surf.co.nz, they’ve been supporting surfing in New Zealand since day one and it’s a great opportunity to help take things to the next level.’’


Recent accolades for Doug include being nominated in the 2007 Billabong global XXL big wave awards for Biggest Barrel and placed 3rd = in the ride of the year award.
