Te Kohanga Reo Wins Emergency Kit

The Te Kotahitanga Marae Te Kohanga Reo were the winners of Franklin District Council’s Disaster Awareness Week competition. The Te Kohanga Reo won a civil defence emergency kit full of everything they would need to cope on their own for up to three days, or more, during a Civil Defence emergency.
Included in the kit was:
Long life food and milk
Water
Can opener
Toilet paper
Torch
Batteries
Essential medical supplies
The Te Kohanga Reo staff were visiting Franklin District Council’s website, www.franklin.govt.nz, especially to look for information on preparing for a civil defence emergency and came across the competition. The Te Kohanga Reo has 13 children and has been active at the Marae since the early eighties.
