Fitzsimons to take the plunge - literally

Green Party Co-Leader Jeanette Fitzsimons will today fulfil a 20-year dream to hurl herself from a bridge attached to a thin rubber band.

Ms Fitzsimons, who is visiting Queenstown, has taken up an offer from AJ Hackett Bungy to jump from the 43-metre Kawarau Bridge bungy.

“It’s a dream I have had for the last 20 years after I had planned to jump from the bridge, but could not because of injuries I had suffered the day before in a bad paraponting landing.

“I have to admit I am a little nervous, however, I am told the risks are smaller than working in politics,” Ms Fitzsimons says.
