309 Road opened for Labour Weekend
Through traffic will be able to use the 309 Road across the Coromandel Peninsula this weekend.
The road will be open for one-lane traffic until repair work is completed on two major dropouts at Route Position (RP) 12.4km and 13.3km, both on the eastern side of the main range.
Thames-Coromandel District Council Roading Engineer Matt Busch says the repair work is now expected to be completed by November 7.
Mr Busch says all other roads on the peninsula are open, but he urges motorists to drive with care, especially if the expected rain arrives.
