WAITAKERE CITY

Waitakere United’s dominance of football in New Zealand and Oceania last season has seen them nominated in every available category at the upcoming Waitakere City Sports Awards.

After winning the National Youth League, New Zealand Football Championship Minor Premiership, NZFC Grand Final and Oceania Champions League, not surprisingly Waitakere United features in four categories.

Head Coach Chris Milicich is nominated in the Alloy Yachts Coach of the Year, Allan Pearce in the Steinlager Sportsman of the Year, the first team is in the Canam Construction Sports Team of the Year and the club in the Waitakere City Council Club of the Year.

Chairman Rex Dawkins is delighted and justifiably proud.

“These nominations are recognition of a great year for the club and while in some cases individuals are nominated and rightly so, this is an honour for all who have contributed. We are a club based largely on volunteer support so each and everyone of those men, women and children that have helped out can say ‘I contributed to the club’s success this year’ and take equal pride in these nominations.”

The Awards Evening will be held on November 14th, appropriately in the Genesis Energy Lounge overlooking Douglas Field where so many of the club’s victories were achieved.
