It wouldn't be Rhythm and Vines without the genre of music that New Zealand loves the most, hip hop! Whether you're into lyricists, MC's, beat merchants, rappers, breaks or soulful singers, you can catch it all in our eclectic line-up of hip hop at R&V!

From Sao Paolo to Sydney, from Toronto to Tokyo, DJ Nu-Mark's carefully crafted, explosively energetic DJ sets never fail to get a party rocking. The man with the plan and most famous for being the beats behind Los Angeles based hip hop superstars Jurassic 5 is one of the world's best at his craft and knows how to make soul, funk, hip-hop, and samba effortlessly blend together and to get those people shaking asses on the floor.

In 1997 at the age of 15 Montreal based DJ/turntablist A-Trak shocked the world by winning the DMCs World DJ Championship. He was both the youngest and first ever Canadian to win the competition. He has since won five world championships (the first ever) and now is the tour DJ for Kanye West and co-founded the record label Fool's Gold which boasts the crème de la crème of club music. Need we say more?

South Rakkas Crew (SRC) have become known as dancehall's most innovative producers, bringing a fresh new sound which top European DJ's have titled Electro-Dancehall. Combining this raw power with hip hop and reggae the Canadian bred, Orlando based crew will provide the perfect stepping stone somewhere between hip hop electro and dancehall beats.

From the semi tropics of Brisbane, Australian turntable hero Sampology will make his R&V debut in 2008.After bursting onto the scene late 2003 as a gig hungry barely 17-year-old kid, Sampology AKA Sam Poggioli has established himself by unleashing everything from deep funk, disco & hip hop to Baltimore, baile funk, breaks, electro & DnB upon dancefloors across the land. Soon to join the Vinyl Slingers in a tour of China, we look forward to a high energy show from this rising Aussie star.

A leading force in the international funk and breaks scene Washington disaster masters Fort Knox Five flirt with hip hop and grooves that will enchant the d floor like an impossible love potion. With their most recent album Radio Free DC they have released a musical elixir with the familiar punch of their previous heavy hitting records and remixes. Fort Knox Five's talent for organic hooks has made them highly sought after producers and remixers and another coup, Afrika Bambaataa—the godfather of hip-hop—has commissioned them to produce four tracks on his latest album Dark Matter Moving at the Speed of Light.

Rounding out the hip hop quota with Kiwi power will be local beat master P Money and guests. With the current top ten radio hit 'Everything', and his usual wizardry behind the tables and that cheeky grin, P will be a home crowd favourite. Not forgetting the soothing soul and rhyming charms of one of our favourites, Ladi 6 and the chunky grooves of Audit playing dubstep, drum'n'bass and bass heavy hip hop beats.
