Winston Peters told the Herald on Sunday “Did you see me flying around in a Helicopter? Who would campaign out of a Helicopter?”

Tauranga’s Independent Candidate Gray Eatwell says that “ The Herald Reporter may not have seen Peters campaigning in a Helicopter, but I did and I have the evidence to prove it”.

During the 1999 campaign Winston Peters, Wiremu (Bill) Gudgeon, a freelance TV cameraman (TVNZ) and Gray Eatwell flew in a Black and White Helicopter campaigning up the East Coast from Gisborne to Ruatoria.

In 1999 Gray Eatwell stood for NZ First in the East Coast Electorate and only left NZ First after the Party Conference in Hamilton the next year.

In his Book “You can Bank on it” first published in 2001 Mr. Eatwell stated, “Standing to fight for the errors of NZ First was sapping our energy and precious resources, so that when it became obvious that the party within itself, (as was graphically shown to me at the Party’s Hamilton conference in 2000) held too many people who lacked the personal fibre of honesty and integrity themselves, left few options for me.”

In Tauranga today Gray Eatwell said, “ I am very angry that the people of Tauranga continue to be deceived by a man who seems to think he can lie his way out of every accusation made against him”.

“I am fighting for our democratic rights at a huge cost and am not prepared to stand by and watch good people being treated as fools.” He added. ENDS.
