DANNEVIRKE

The Dannevirke Town Centre Refurbishment project has made swift progress over the spring months and is now into its last major sections between Ward St and the southern project limit at Millar St.

The majority of footpaths have been reinstated with new ‘low profile’ kerb and channel, decorative kerb block and ‘large format’ paving blocks. New balustrades are up and street furniture, lighting and trees will soon follow.

A great and generous gift to the project will see the construction of a new Town Clock at the corner of Ward St and High St.

Resurfacing State Highway 2, by Higgins Ltd, contractors to Transit NZ, was delayed due to weather and equipment problems during late winter but has now restarted and about half the project length will soon be complete including new road markings.
Reaction to the new look has been very positive. The town businesses and the wider community have shown great patience and support during the year, which has helped tremendously.
We now look forward to the finishing stages and final touches being applied during the summer months.
