World number one triathlete Sam Warriner has revealed she will be amongst the starters in this weekend’s inaugural Contact 3:9:3 triathlon at Rotorua, but novice athletes need not fear her presence, she is there to watch and help others if needed.

The world number one athlete will take part in the newly created event for novice or beginner triathletes in order to help one particular lady she is coaching through her www.sweat7.com coaching service.

"I've been coaching some ladies for a couple of months now through my site www.sweat7.com, they have absolutley no experience of triathlon what so ever. One of them in particular will be doing the Contact 3:9:3 event in Rotorua.

“Kathryn has never competed in a triathlon before so I'm coming down to swim, bike, and run along side her and guide her through her first event. We're just doing for fun and to prove that sweat7 girls can do whatever they put their minds too!”

Warriner will not restrict her advice and encouragement to just Kathryn though. It could be anyone that she jogs up alongside to offer some timely words to.

“I'm there for everyone though, if you see me out there on the bike or run and you want to ask me a question, just sing out, I'd be more than happy to help you with some of my sweat7 tips.

“Triathlon is a great sport with something for everyone; if I can help you achieve your goals in any way I'd love to help.”

Warriner herself is about as ‘out of shape’ as she gets after her dramatic charge to the number one ranking in the world ended some 3 weeks ago.

“I've not trained for 3 weeks now as I'm on a break before next years season. I'm pretty stiff so I've got my own challenges just like everyone else. I'll be flying out to Madrid that night to collect the 2008 World Cup trophy; I imagine there will be a lot of dancing involved so I need to keep my legs fresh for that!!!

“Sunday will be a fun day and I'm just looking forward to getting out there and seeing how my sweat7 beginner girls get on with their first event. The swim start can be quite daunting as a beginner but I'll be telling Kathryn to start a little to the side away from the others. That way you get clear water and can just swim like you'd normally swim in the pool.
