CHRISTCHURCH

Concluding the month-long Movember campaign, Auckland’s Triple X Motorsport team took time out of their Christchurch race weekend for a shave-off to celebrate the charity challenge.

With 15 of the team taking up the trial to grow a moustache in support of the annual men’s health awareness campaign, funds raised go to the official charity in support of prostate cancer research and the ‘Out of The Blue’ programme.

At last count the Porsche team had amassed over two-thousand dollars toward the now global challenge – boosted by some competitive challenges to raise funds between drivers and their mechanics.

First in the chair for the end-of-month lunch time shave-off, CEO of Mad Butcher Holdings Mike Morton said its effect was two-fold at raising awareness of often forgotten health issues and having fun: “It has been good for the boys – a bit of banter going on with who’s got the biggest moustache and who’s had a pathetic effort. But it has been great for team morale – we’ve helped along an important charity and it’s been a bit of fun getting them shaved off by the nurses today - and probably worth all the itching.”

Clean shaven for the rest of their Sunday afternoon’s work, the team were relishing the new-found facial freedom.

The team run six Porsche type 997 cars in the 2008/09 Battery Town GT3 Cup Challenge – with drivers Craig Baird (Barrons RV Taupo – ZM car) and David Reynolds (Placemakers – Karcher car) first and second in the standings after two of six rounds.

While raising money for the charity cause, the team also bring commercial partners Hampsta, Mad Butcher, VnC Cocktails, Barrons RV Taupo, ZM, Placemakers, Beef Lamb Bureau, Altherm, Sunday News, LG, Precision AV, Castrol, BBS, Whyteline, Quality Water, Alpinestars, and Continental Cars to the annual campaign.

Ends.
