GISBORNE

It’s 7 days and counting until Rhythm and Vines, the biggest New Year’s music festival in New Zealand, kicks off in Gisborne. On the 29th December Waiohika Estate will play home to more than 20,000 music lovers and over 1000 onsite campers who will be treated to a multi-day international music festival event spectacular! The 3 days of music includes more than 130 national and international acts, 5 stages, chill out zones, pyrotechnics, artistic performances, food & market stalls, and a 25 metre waterslide!

It’s not just local Kiwi’s who are expected to roll through the gates next Monday, tickets have sold far and wide with guests travelling from 37 countries to be at the only event in the world to see the first sunrise of 2009.

The esteemed Guardian Newspaper in the UK recently reported Rhythm and Vines as one of the top New Year festival locations in the world. The article threw praise at the “surrounding vineyards, local beaches and early Southern Hemisphere sunshine”. Overseas media have also been attracted to the event with magazine, newspaper and music journalists making the journey from Australia, UK and around the world to attend the new format event.

This year the addition of Premium Onsite Camping at Waiohika Estate has provided a big draw card for those who wanted a special camping experience. The camp site is conveniently located just a stone throw away from all the Rhythm and Vines action and has some very special features for campers. Amongst these are one of the best views on the property, plus access to their very own swimming pool; “Caddy Shack” 9 hole golf course; daily jazz aerobics; Gladiator bouncy castle; onsite pizza parlour; shaded coffee shop; fortune teller; Mr Whippy; roving alcohol hosts; a special tent erection service; and a “girls only” powder room complete with mirrors, tables and private toilets!

Festival Founder Hamish Pinkham is counting down to his sixth Rhythm and Vines festival.

“The vibe down at Waiohika is already electric! Everyone down here is so excited, there’s a real buzz amongst the team, bring it on!” he says.

For any fence sitters who are still thinking about heading down to R&V we’ve put together some special 2 people and 6 people packages which include your tickets and camping onsite at Waiohika.

“We want to be able to share our event with as many people as we can. So to keep things simple we’ve designed ticket and camping packages that will save you money, and also make transactions quick and easy at this hectic time of the year,” says Pinkham.

There’s always a last minute rush for tickets in the final week of the festival so festival organisers recommend that you get in quick and buy your tickets now!
