Organisers of Rhythm and Vines are alerting guests of this year’s three day New Year event to come prepared for warm weather, especially on the final day of the 31st December.

“We’re pleased to report it looks like it’s going to be the hottest New Year we’ve had for a while. Met Service is forcasting for warm Gisborne weather from the 29th December right through to the 1st January and beyond. It looks as if the temperatures will reach around 28 – 29 degrees each day, and in particular New Year’s Eve is set to be really hot and dry. So we’re warning everyone to come prepared with sunscreen, hats and appropriate cover for the hot sun and most importantly – stay hydrated! ” Says Festival Founder Hamish Pinkham.

As well as the warm hot days it’s good news for campers with overnight low temperatures sitting at a warm 14 to 15 degrees. Those campers at BW Campgrounds will no doubt make use of their local beach to cool down during the hot days, while onsite campers will be very grateful for their new private campers’ swimming pool.

Onsite at the event St John’s ambulance will be on hand to deal with any medical issues. Plus a team of local “Angels” will also be on the scout for anyone that looks potentially unsafe, intoxicated or dehydrated. There will be a number of chill out zones on site where guests can relax and dehydrate, in particular the Escape Lounge will provide a great place to kick back with couches and shade sail cover. Plus the onsite 25 metre water slide is always a popular attraction for those wanting to cool down and have some fun at the same time.

Event goers are also reminded to pre-organise their transport plan to and from Rhythm and Vines using the bus system, taxi’s or carpooling. And once at the event guests are reminded to set a meeting point with their friends.

“Phones die and cell phone coverage can come and go, so make sure you talk about your plan for the day, where you’ll meet and how you’ll get home, and where possible always stick together,” says Pinkham.

AA will also be nearby for any car breakdown issues. If you’d like to check out the special AA deal for Rhythm and Vines guests go to http://www.aa.co.nz/membership/join/Pages/Rhythm-Vines-Exclusive-AA-Member-competition.aspx
