Franklin District Council would like to remind residents and visitors that the indoor swimming pool, on Franklin Road, will remain closed a little longer this summer to allow the pool floor to be retiled. Work is on track and the pool is expected to open before the end of January.

The Franklin Sport, Swim and Fitness indoor swimming pool regularly closes over Christmas and New Years for standard maintenance. This year however Council decided to extend the closure for a few extra weeks to allow the retiling work to occur.
“The indoor swimming pool was opened in July 1997 and 11 years later it is time for the tiles to be renewed. During summer there are many swimming options in the District, including Council’s three outdoor pools – the Jubliee Pool in Pukekohe, Centennial Pool in Tuakau and Whiteside Pool in Waiuku. That’s why it makes sense to close the inside pool for retiling during this time when we know that if you want to swim you will still be able to,” says Franklin District Council’s Property Unit Manager, Gwyn De Arth.
