Water Restrictions In Dannevirke

Water restrictions have been imposed in Dannevirke and will remain until further notice.

All garden sprinklers, unattended water supplies and hand held hoses are now restricted to 6pm-9pm on alternate days.

The restrictions apply to even numbered properties on ‘even’ days and odd numbered properties on ‘odd’ days.

These restrictions also apply to those rural addresses connected to the town water supply.

The situation was not yet critical but water demand was increasing and the council was required to meet its resource consents, utilities manager Dave Watson said.

Last year restrictions were imposed before Christmas but this season’s occasional heavy showers had eased the situation until now, he said.

It is essential that people conserve water where possible
