Radford Sixth in Junior Pan Pacs Open Water Swim
Rotorua swimmer Kane Radford has finished sixth in the 10km open water swim at the Junior Pan Pacific Championship in Guam today.
The 18 year old Radford, former Oceania champion, swam aggressively throughout, leading for much of the four laps.
He was unable to shake a small group of chasers, who out-kicked Radford on the final lap. American Ryan Feeley took out the title in 1hr 53min 37.65sec with Radford only seven seconds behind in sixth.
The open water swim brought the curtain down on the Junior Pan Pacs with New Zealand winning six medals including two gold/two bronze to Daniel Bell (West Auckland), a gold/bronze to Gareth Kean (Wellington) and a gold to Gareth Kean, Starn Simpson, Daniel Bell and Cameron Burrows in the men’s 400m medley relay.
