This weekend Nick Ross set his two best results of the season thus far when at Timaru International Motor Raceway he qualified the Total Lubricants Commodore into the top 10 on Saturday morning and followed that with a sixth place finish on Sunday.

A trying day of practice sessions on Friday had the team struggling for pace but with that put behind them they found the speed they had been searching for with driver Nick Ross getting through to the final session of qualification on Saturday and setting the tenth quickest time on the tight circuit.

Starting from 10th place in the first race of the weekend Ross had a dispute with another driver leaving him to come off second best and lose a number of placings.

"We had a bit of a brush up with another driver at the end of the long straight - we had a bit of a disagreement over some space, it knocked us down to finish in 20th while he kept going." laughed Ross.

Starting the second race of the weekend in the position he finished in race one, Ross was back in 20th and with very few opportunities for passing at the narrow twisty circuit he managed to recover up into 15th place.

"We had a good run through in that race." he said.

As usual the third race of the weekend was a reverse grid start and Ross was on the third row in sixth place ready for anything.

"The race wasn't too bad actually and we were up to fourth at one stage before the quicker cars came through."

"We were in seventh until about 200 metres before the finish and Foggy (Angus Fogg) spun in front of us about 50 metres before the finish line."

The sixth place is this season's best race result thus far for Nick Ross and the Concept Motorsport Team.

"We were a little slower in the races than in qualification but got some good results and moved up a couple of spots so we're pretty happy about that." said Ross.

Ross has been strong at the "Levels" circuit in the past but with luck not always on his side.

Last year at Timaru International Motor Raceway Ross was in fifth position in race three when in the final lap the shifter broke off the gearbox leaving him to crawl around in first gear while most of the field drove by.

No such dramas this year however and after a good weekend at the first of back to back meetings in the South Island the very much welcomed points have moved Nick Ross up into 15th on the championship table.

Ross and the team now have a couple of days off in Invercargill before heading to the circuit at Teretonga Park to set up for round five of the BNT V8s this weekend.

Practice sessions begin this Friday the 16th January followed by qualification on Saturday morning and race one in the afternoon.

Race two will be on Sunday morning with the reverse grid start race three in the afternoon.
