A spectacular concert on Friday 30 January will offer the community a chance to support people affected by Dargaville’s recent disastrous fire and help the town move forward from the event.

“The Fosters and other shop owners have taken a huge hit as a result of the blaze and I have been inundated by people asking what they can do to help,” says Kaipara Mayor Neil Tiller who is promoting the event on behalf of the community. “A benefit concert is one way that everyone can come together and contribute while also having a fun night out to help put this event behind us.”

“Please put a circle around 30 January now and be ready to demonstrate this town’s community spirit.”

The concert in the Dargaville Town Hall starts at 7.30pm and entry will require a donation of $10.00 or more. These, plus profits from the bar will go into a special fund to be allocated by the Mayor.

The programme is still being compiled but Kaipara District Council’s Community Development Facilitator Heidi Dreyer expects a talented line-up of about ten acts offering something for all tastes.

“Everyone I have spoken to so far has jumped at the opportunity to be involved and the County Music people are especially keen because of the Foster family’s huge contribution in that area,” she says.

Mrs Dreyer is keen to hear from musicians, singers, dancers and other performers interested in being part of this important occasion and can be contacted on 09 439 7059 or 0800 727 059.
