SKYCITY is proud to announce it is an official sponsor of the inaugural Louis Vuitton Pacific Series, an exciting international regatta taking place on Auckland’s stunning Waitemata Harbour from Friday 30 January through to Saturday, 14 February 2009.

Some of the world’s most famous sailing teams including BMW Oracle Racing (USA), Alinghi (Switzerland), Damiani Italia (Italy), Luna Rossa (Italy), Pataugas K-Challenge (France), TEAMORIGIN (Great Britain), China Team (China), Greek Challenge (Greece), Team Shosholoza (South Africa) and last but not least, Emirates Team New Zealand complete the 10-team strong competitor line-up.

As New Zealand’s premiere entertainment destination, SKYCITY is a fitting sponsor and entertainment partner for this exciting yachting series.


The SKYCITY Pacific Bar

In true form, SKYCITY leads the hospitality charge with the launch of the SKYCITY Pacific Bar based at the very heart of the Louis Vuitton Pacific Series Village.

Live entertainment takes place daily at the event village, commencing with “Hello Sailor” performing on Friday, 30 January at 8pm.

Ongoing live gig entertainment will continue throughout the series billing a raft of rising, young Kiwi talent from the “Play it Strange” youth band trust.

The Louis Vuitton Pacific Series Village will be flanked with vibrant street theatre-based entertainment including stilt walkers and face painters while team signing sessions will be hosted in the SKYCITY Pacific Bar throughout the race series.

Sky Tower Best Racing View in Town!

SKYCITY also promises best spectator vantage point from Auckland’s most famous landmark, Sky Tower.

With public access to three viewing platforms, Sky Lounge, Main Observation Deck and Sky Deck, yachting fans will get a birds eye view of the spectator-friendly, ‘round robin’ style course on Auckland’s Waitemata Harbour between Orakei Wharf and Rangitoto.

Sky Tower also hosts live broadcasts and Virtual Eye animation of each race on Main Observation Level (186 metres) and Sky Deck (220 metres).

The Louis Vuitton Pacific Series Trophy will be exclusively on display in Sky Deck from 30 January through to 11 February, dressed in a nautical theme throughout Sky Tower view platforms with stunning images by renowned yachting and official Emirates Team New Zealand photographer, Chris Cameron.
