New and improved Taupo bus service
Taupo District Council and Environment Waikato are introducing new and improved bus routes and are encouraging residents to try the improved service out for free on Tuesday 3 February.
Following feedback received from various groups and bus users, a number of changes have been introduced to the Taupo Connector, Taupo’s local service.
Councillor Andrew Welch said “the route is being extended to cater for residents in Waitahanui, 5 Mile Bay and Acacia Bay and a new look bus is being introduced with a low floor to provide easy access for wheelchairs and prams.”
To keep this service affordable, the fares will remain the same as before.
To encourage members of the public to try out the new bus service and consider using it instead of other forms of transport, a FREE BUS DAY is being held on Tuesday 3 February.
“Why not encourage your friends to jump on the bus for a change – leave the car at home and give the bus a go,” said Councillor Welch.
The new look bus, painted in bright blue designed to stand out, will be ready to go in March.
Taupo Connector timetables which list times and bus stop locations are available from Taupo District Council offices or go to www.busit.co.nz or freephone 0800 4 BUSLINE for more information.
