WAITAKERE CITY

Waitakere United Head Coach Chris Milicich is preaching business as usual and no complacency as his side prepares to play Otago in the NZFC this Friday (Waitangi Day).

While his team is on a much publicized year long unbeaten run, Milicich is having none of it and paying Terry Phelan’s side complete respect.

“A 12 month unbeaten run is nice for the media and writes a few headlines but it hasn’t won us anything this year. Terry will have his side fired up for this one, we must be ready and execute to our own high standards and continue our good recent form.

“Our focus is on the next few games albeit one game at a time to achieve our first objective this year to secure a spot in next year’s O-League. It is important that we don’t undo the good work of the previous weeks with one bad performance.

“We take an unchanged side into this one which in itself is comforting after the injury and suspensions that we have faced in recent times. Danko (Koprivcic) is still not right with his ankle so will sit it out, as will Jason (Rowley) and Danny (Hay) but he is getting closer at training and will play a part at some stage this season I hope.”

The match kicks off at the earlier time of 1pm.

Waitakere will train tonight from 6pm at Auckland Grammar School with media welcome to attend for interviews and footage.
