Sid is doing really well and is happy with his progress to date.

He has been held up in New Plymouth for the past 24 hours due to weather but is back in his gyrocopter this morning and is aiming to make his way right up the West Coast to Kaitaia this afternoon. From here he will head around Cape Reinga, then into KeriKeri.

So far, the most challenging area was the Fiordland National Park. Sid describes it as "wild country".

He has been rapt with the support he has received to date. In each town he has arrived, he has been warmly welcomed.

Sid is hoping to make it back to Taupo late Saturday afternoon, in time for the Flying Proms. "I have in my head that you get around the world in 80 days so I need to get around NZ in 8," he said. His arrival in Taupo tomorrow afternoon will be dependant on the weather.
