Bike Wise Month started on Sunday February 1 and so far has been a great success with getting local businesses and clubs on board for support.

Sport Tararua District Coordinator Pip Hubbard is also blown away by the support the public is showing for the upcoming Mayoral Cycle Challenges.

“It is always really hard to find volunteers to help at events but for some reason Tararua people have really come to the party and are helping me enormously,” she says.

Dannevirke Rotary and Pahiatua Rotary are helping provide marshals for the event as well as the Tararua District Council, Te Kete Hauora, Road Safe Central and Mid Central Health.

Sport Tararua has been busy not only with the two Mayoral Cycle Challenges but a Business Battle and celebrating Go By Bike Day.

Go By Bike Day is Wednesday 18 February and is a day to ditch the car and bike to work, school or the shops. Two local businesses have jumped on board to help celebrate Go By Bike day by offering FREE cycle checks!

Having a safe bike is very important and not a lot of us actually take the time to check that everything is in working order; so make sure you go and see Hewitts Motorcycles in Dannevirke or Kevin at Laskeys Autos in Pahiatua for your FREE check.
