New goBay Smartcards will be available for bus passengers from next Monday (23 February).

The smartcards replace the current ten trip tickets and can be topped up in multiples of $10.

Passengers will be able to purchase the cards from bus drivers for $7.

For the first week only – Monday 23 to Friday 28 February – smartcards will be at the special price of $5.00 per card, to make it easier for current commuters and passengers to switch.

Customers with existing ten-trip concession tickets can use these until the end of March 2009.

Smartcards are used by bus services in the main metropolitan areas, as they are more convenient because passengers do not need to search for change. It is also easier to budget and get a cost saving, as smartcard fares are cheaper than cash fares.

More information on the goBay Smartcards is available from bus drivers, or by phoning Go Bus on 878 9250.
