Hosing Restored On Alternate Days

Thirsty gardens in Eketahuna and Dannevirke will benefit from the recent rain and a return to watering on alternate days.

Unattended water systems, sprinklers and hand held hoses are now all permissible between the hours of 6pm-9pm .Even numbered properties on even days. Odd numbered properties on odd days.

But while the water crisis was currently eased, restrictions would be imposed again if excessively hot conditions returned and river flows dropped again utilities manager Dave Watson warned.

He thanked residents in both towns for their efforts to conserve water over recent weeks.
