The weather cleared just in time for Saturday night’s SKYCITY Starlight Symphony, with around 90,000 people attending the Auckland concert, collecting over $50,000 for this year’s chosen charity, Make-A-Wish New Zealand.

The event was threatened by poor weather on Friday and showers throughout the day on Saturday, but this didn’t stop a huge crowd turning up for the popular Auckland event. Picnickers were out in full force, prepared for a lovely night under the stars, to watch wonderful performances by top musical talents from throughout Australasia.

Feedback from the event has been magnificent with SKYCITY’s website overwhelmed with positive comments from attendees. One Symphony goer said:

“Thank you so much for putting on last Saturday night’s ABSOLUTE STELLAR performance. What an awesome contribution you guys have made to Auckland’s Calendar. Here’s hoping that it stays on for many many more years to come.”

Make-A-Wish New Zealand’s CEO, Scott Simpson says the money raised at this year’s SKYCITY Starlight Symphony will go a long way to help ensure Kiwi Kids with life-threatening illnesses have their cherished wish granted.

“Everyone who contributed at the Symphony can feel very proud that they have shared in the power of a wish and ensured dreams will come true for seriously ill children.”

2009 was SKYCITY’s eleventh year of sponsoring SKYCITY Starlight Symphony.
