Angus Fogg set the quickest time during both official test sessions for round five of the BNT V8s Championship at Manfeild in Feilding this weekend.

The BNT V8s had two 45 minute test sessions on Friday and while the lap times during testing don’t count towards the weekend’s results, naturally teams and fans take note.

In session one Fogg was quickest in the LG Ford with a time of 1:13.698 – compare this to the lap record Fogg holds for this circuit of 1.12.810 set in February 2008. John McIntyre was second fastest in the John McIntyre Racing Ford with a time of 1:13.743. Craig Baird was third fastest in the United Video Ford, Chesters Ford driver Tim Edgell was fourth quickest with Andy Booth the best of the Holden brigade, fifth fastest in the Big Pen Pies Commodore.

Fogg topped the timing charts again in session two with a time of 1.13.5, while Baird was just 0.07 seconds slower in second. Kayne Scott bought the Fujitsu Ford into third fastest for this session with McIntyre and Luke Youlden completing the top five.

The BNT V8s run a three-part qualifying programme from 1:00pm on Saturday, a little later than usual to accommodate the Toyota Racing Series competitors and their New Zealand Grand Prix preparation. All competitors run in an initial 20-minute qualifying session, then the fastest 20 run for a 15-minute session, and the top ten effectively run a top ten shoot-out for another 15 minutes. Race one – 12 laps – is scheduled for 4:00pm. A 16-lap race starts at 11:10am on Sunday and a 20-lap reverse grid race at 3:00pm, all with rolling starts.
