Maritime NZ Give Final Approval For Taharoa Express To Leave Anchorage

All repair work, including leveling of the cargo and repair and testing of the ship’s electrical system, was completed at 1115hrs(Local Time) on Saturday, July 07; with the additional equipment to level the cargo and to pump out excess free water having been taken off the vessel at 1140hrs (Local Time) on Saturday.


After an exhaustive inspection of the ship’s hold, its cargo placement and testing of the full electrical system, by the ship’s classification society (NK) this morning; Maritime NZ have issued a letter at 1030hrs this morning, stating: “All conditions imposed on the ship by Maritime New Zealand on 4 July, 2007 have been met and are hereby removed.”


The Taharoa Express is therefore cleared to sail and will leave the anchorage today at around 1300 (Local Time) and sail onto Taharoa to complete their loading procedure, before sailing onto their next destination in China.


The ship’s Technical Managers, on behalf of the owners and charterers would like to thank the NZ maritime authorities, the many sub-contractors who helped in the corrective action and repairs of the Taharoa Express and the public of New Zealand for their patience and helpful assistance over the past two weeks.
