FEILDING’S mobility scooter group has been resurrected following two recent meetings and is planning to meet on a regular basis and organise on-going activities.

Co-ordinator Darwin Vincent is pleased the group is back in operation after a two-year hiatus and heartened by the enthusiasm shown by members.

“Two of the group, Gary and Sandra Vercoe, have kindly offered to produce a newsletter, and once you get those kind of things ticking over, then interest in what’s going on starts to build.”

He was also appreciative of The Coach House Museum offering to provide a venue for the group’s meetings on the first Tuesday of each month.

Mr Vincent said there was an increasing number of people using mobility scooters in the town and it was important that a collective group be established to represent their interests.

Operational issues such as the speed limit (6kph), battery charges, tyre pressures, scooter maintenance, glass, run-ups and cars blocking footpaths were just some of the topics that could be addressed.

Mr Vincent was also hoping that a small working fund be set up to help subsidise future group activities. Anyone interested in the group can contact Mr Vincent on 323-7948.
