'Turbines' Generate $7000 In Three Years
With the 2009 Relay For Life just completed the Tararua Turbines can now stop spinning for a while.
Over the last three years council staff have raised over $7,000 for cancer through catering, mufti days, raffles and personal donations.
Council’s involvement started earlier however when Sport Tararua co-ordinator Michelle Wallace joined Council and became the first team leader in 2005.
Current team captain Jenny McNeur credits “the Mayor and a core group of staff” for the motivation and effort that the ‘Turbines’ have generated.
Altogether, there are 10 Relay For Life groups in the Tararua district.
