Man injured in 60 ft fall off cliff at Titahi Bay

The Wellington based Westpac Rescue Helicopter transported a man seriously injured in a fall from a cliff earlier today.

The helicopter, with a Wellington Free Ambulance paramedic onboard, responded to Taitahi Bay, Porirua, just after 9am this morning.

The 53 year old Porirua man is believed to have fallen down a 60ft cliff late last night. He was found around 9am this morning and the emergency services alerted.

When the helicopter arrived paramedics were treating the man on the beach and the helicopter was able to land nearby.

He was suffering from hypothermia and had sustained serious head and multiple bone fractures.

He was flown to the Wellington Hospital Emergency Department under the care of a WFA paramedic in a serious but stable condition and has been admited to hospital.
