Creative Sounds aka “The Stomach” is having their re-opening day this Sunday 29th March 2009. The re-opening kicks off at 1pm and the Stomach and PNCC would love to see you there.

Come on down and join in the celebration of the redevelopment of this historic community recording studio and venue.

When The Stomach was established with City Council assistance in 1988 it was unique in New Zealand for being a community based facility that was available at an inexpensive, accessible charge and now 21 years later the principles have not changed.

The first official use will be the annual Swampfest from May 1-10 featuring multiple genres. Later in the year Craig Black, Manager , Creative Sounds Engineer, Sebestian Hesp and their support team are planning The Stomach’s 21st birthday celebration.

“The Stomach will be as good as most recording venues in New Zealand and can be used by rock and roll bands, hip hop musicians, solo performers or classical artists,” Craig says.

City Council Project Manager, Jo Sutton, says The Stomach has played a significant role in the community and the new premises will provide further opportunity for musicians in the city and beyond.

The upgrade has been funded by the City Council with grants from the Central Energy Trust, Eastern and Central Community Trust, the Department of Internal Affairs, the Lions Foundation and local fundraising.

See you Sunday!
