2nd Test , 1st day analysis Brought to you by - www.criccorner.blogspot.com
All went wrong for India in the 1st day of the second Test Match. New Zealand won the toss and elected to Bat First and Surprisingly, There was No M.S.Dhoni in Starting XI for India. M.S.Dhoni will miss this test match due to a slight back Injury. Indian Team had just one change with Dinesh Karthick Replacing M.S.Dhoni while New Zealand Had two changes with Jeetan Patel replacing Kyle Mills and Jamie How replacing the injured Flynn. Virender Sehwag was stand-in captain for India.
Zaheer and Ishant Sharma bowled superbly at the start of The First Session. The Inexperienced NZ batsmen were struggling against the bowling of Zaheer and Ishant. Zaheer got two and Ishant got one wicket to reduce NZ to 23/3 in just 10.1 overs. Jamie How playing in place of Flynn could not prove much as he got out for just 1 run. India were looking to repeat what they did in the last Test Match but it was not to be so. But Yes, there was a repeat. Ryder Repeated what he did in the last Test Match. But this time he did the Recovery with Ross Taylor. Indian Bowlers completely struggled against Ryder and Taylor. Ryder and Taylor amassed 271 runs for the 4th wicket & that changed the state of the match.
Ross Taylor who was not in a good form played fantastically and scored 151 runs in just 204 balls with 26 fours and 1 six. Ross Taylor Got out to Harbhajan Singh's Doosra. On The Other hand, Ryder continued his good form scoring his second Test Hundred. Ryder Remained Not out and has scored 137 runs off 220 balls with 17 fours and a six. After the departure of Ross Taylor, All Rounder James Franklin came in and remained not out till the stumps giving Ryder full support.
Without Dhoni, Indian team looked completely different as the bowlers started off well but struggled completely in the last two sessions of the game. Munaf Patel who impressed everyone with his bowling in the Previous Match remained wicketless. Zaheer took two and Harbhajan and Ishant took one each. New Zealand will be looking to amass a huge score against India and India will be trying to wrap the New Zealand's innings as soon as possible. That was all from the First Day's play. Hope to see another thrilling day tomorrow.
