An eventful day was much waiting for cricket lovers on day 3, March 28, 2009 at McLean's Park, where bowlers dominated the batsmen. New Zealand had a very successful outing on day2 in the second test against India.

India started their day well with Sachin getting off the mark with a fluent drive on the off, a man in form. Dravid who was in his early twenties reached his fifty, in style with controlled shots and solid as rock. Sachin went after Jeetan Patel, he raced to 49 which included 7 fours and a flat six. When he was on 49, Jeetan Patel struck for New Zealand again and this time it was Master Blaster, who leaned forward for a defense, only to get an edge, which was taken superbly by Ross Taylor at first slip. Their partnership was worth 87 off 21.2 overs.
