At approximately 11.05pm on Wednesday the 11th of July a male has forced his way into an address in Mangawhai, Rodney District. An elderly female has woken to find a male lying next to her.
The male has sexually assaulted the elderly victim whilst armed with a knife. The victim has courageously fought off the offender.
Police have praised the heroic actions of the elderly victim. Orewa CIB are currently investigating this matter.
