New House Numbers Encouraging

If there is a recession in Tararua the council’s building department has been too busy lately to notice.
Last month among the 44 consents issued were eight for new houses and one for the upcoming McDonald’s restaurant in Dannevirke.

And while the consent numbers are down on the 61 issued in March 12 months ago, the total value of $3,495,000 compared with last year’s $1,698,961 is local economic good news, maintains manager environmental services Mike Brown.

Urban and rural locations are represented among the new houses with five in the Dannevirke area, two in Woodville and one in Pahiatua.
