With two days of hearings over, deliberations are now underway for the Tararua district 10-year community plan.
The plan attracted more than 160 submissions addressing a variety of issues from a dedicated “in house” parks and reserves team and a water specialist team, to the possibility of merging service and information centres and continuing with main street town centre upgrades for Woodville, Pahiatua and Eketahuna.

Substituting in house teams for contractors drew a mixed response along with town centre upgrades.
The possibility of merging service and information centres was generally favoured whilst a proposal to discontinue red bins for district wide recycling was not.

There were calls to improve the Pahiatua water supply and for water tanks on urban properties.
Current and future rate increases were an issue for many.
