The Dannevirke Lions Club is roaring into action shortly ready to pounce on unwanted domestic chemicals.
“Visit 40 Denmark St – the former Dannevirke county yard - on Sunday June 28 to dispose of garden sprays, weed killers, insecticides, used oil, car batteries, old paint, household cleaners or liquid and dry chemicals,” advises Lions president Bob Dresser.

He emphasises that the collection applies to urban residential properties only – not chemicals from farms or commercial businesses.

“Our aim is to make homes safer by removing old and unwanted chemicals,” he said.

All substances should be left in their original containers to assist with the identification of each substance.
Anyone unable to bring their chemicals to the Denmark St depot on June 28 should contact a member of the Lions club to arrange pick up, Mr Dresser said.
