WHANGAMATA

Temporary repairs made overnight but future shutdown expected.

Whangamata residents continue to have water after temporary repairs to a water main.

A burst main was reported yesterday in Whangamata at 142 Durrant Drive, triggering an expected shutdown over an extensive area for up to five hours.

Overnight work has resulted in temporary repairs being made to the water main. This will enable water levels in the reservoirs to be restored to normal levels and for residents to have water.

Further work will be required to make the repair permanent. This will involve a planned water shutdown for the following streets: Bruce Wallace, Durrant, Elsinore, Everitt, Governors Heights, Harry Watt, Herbert, Ngati Porou, Ngatipu, Patiki, Silkwood, Te Pamahue, Tirohanga, Tobie and Tukere.

Residents will be advised in time to prepare for the planned future shutdown.
